Dear Mr. Archive,
October is proving to be a busy and varied month with a lot of worthwhile activities taking place within CEF and with other organisations. We hope you can join us and support some of these events.
Thursday 4th October: CEF AGM at Blackrock Castle Observatory, Cork. Commencing at 7pm with refreshments (kindly donated by Tom Barry’s and the Quay Co-op), the film screening at 7.15pm is “Surviving Progress” followed by the AGM meeting at 8pm. All are very welcome to attend. Looking forward to meeting you there.
Wednesday 10th October: regular monthly Green Drinks @ Tom Barry’s Pub from 7pm. Good conversation about all things environmental and life in general.
Saturday 13th October: For one day only, the 13th of October the TEDx platform will harness the power of people across the globe to encourage them to host a TEDx event, themed "City 2.0," Speakers may focus on official City 2.0 themes, including Art, Education, Food, Health, Housing, Play, Public Space, and Safety--all elements whose presence will dictate the success of our future cities. We are delighted that Michael Hobbs, CEF Chairperson, will be one of the speakers at the TEDxUCC “City 2.0” Cork event which takes place at the Granary Theatre. This is an invite only event organised by UCC. However, for more information see link.
Thursday 18th October: we are extending our consultation sessions “Framing the Future” around the county. The first of these will take place in Bantry on the 18th October at 8pm at Organico Café. It is very important to get the views and feedback from you the members and supporters of the organisation. Please let me know if you intend to come along and please let others know who may be interested. If you are in the general area I would appreciate if you could display the poster in a public place. Thanks!
Saturday 27th October: Halloween workshop for children aged 7+: Upcycling arts and crafts - lanterns and masks for a spooky waste free Halloween!! Further details of this will be forwarded next week.
We will shortly be launching our 1001 Acorn Project and would like to remind you to send in nominations for our Environmental Awards – we know there are many unsung heroes out there working diligently on initiatives that in one way or another help to improve our environment. Let us know by filling in the form and returning by 31st October 2011.
There are lots of other events to get involved with from walks in the Mealagh Valley on Sunday 7th, the Irish Heart Foundation Community Walking Leader Training Course in Drimoleague, October 12th – 14th, to the Environmental Sciences Association of Ireland 2012 Photography Competition and the Coastwatch Survey 2012 which is a very worthwhile activity see details and notes.
These notices are posted on the website. On the noticeboard only the 3 most recent posts are visual but if you select the month in the archive box all of the other posts show up.
Best regards,
Bernie
