Please find following the details of the Growing Seminar/ Showcase which will take place on the 28th April 2012.

Farranree Community Centre, Pophams Road
Saturday 28th April 2012

CEF is hosting this event to inform people of the various opportunities to get involved with growing food, to highlight the many wonderful projects that are already building resilience in communities and to learn more about food security, how to make marginal land more productive, the importance of bees and ways to attract them to your garden.

Speakers from the following growing initiatives will give their own account of getting involved in growing and what the experience has been for them:
  • Community Gardens
  • Allotments
  • Grow It Yourself (GIY)
  • Fruit & Orchards
We are delighted to have the participation of the following speakers who are all experts on the choosen topics, link for further info.:
  • Food Security: Dr. Colin Sage
  • Attracting Bees to Your Garden: Tim Rowe
  • Transforming Marginal Land: John Dolan
Projects are welcome to bring along promotional displays and /or  materials, however, please advise if you are doing so.

Visit to local Allotments and Community Garden
CEF is very grateful to the Churchfield Allotment Project and to Churchfield Community Trust who are facilitating an optional visit to the nearby allotments and to the garden in Blackpool after the Seminar at 1pm. Churchfield Community Trust will also open up the Community Cafe where refreshments may be purchased. It would be useful for both projects to get an indication of how many people would like to visit, please register your interest.

Limited parking will be availabe near the centre and the nearby Church of the Resurrection, however, the Centre is just a 10 minute walk from Blackpool Shopping Centre Car Park. See here for map.

This is a Free event and all are welcome.
